TOURNAMENT PARTICIPANTS & TEAM MANAGERS:
Congratulations on advancing to the Regional Tournament! On behalf of Meridian Youth Baseball, we would like to welcome you to Meridian, Idaho for the 2008 Pacific Northwest Cal Ripken 10 Year Old Regional Tournament. We are looking forward to hosting you, your players, your families, and other supporters. The tournament will take place July 23-July 26, with games beginning on Thursday, July 24th at Settler’s Park in Meridian.
The following Tournament Information will help you prepare for the Tournament. The packet was put together to help in setting forth important information and requirements. Please provide copies of this packet to all members of your team, as well as their parents.
In order to run an organized and successful Tournament, we need your cooperation and support. In that regard, there are several items that we will need from you prior to your arrival at the Tournament. Please send the following items electronically in a tiff or jpeg format to Tim Clare at tclare@isi-sales.com. One 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 team photograph with identification; Team Roster, including uniform numbers and player identification. We need to have this information in Nancy’s hands no later than Wednesday, July 16. Please identify in the subject line on your computer email what you are sending. These items do not take the place of the information that will need to be included with your official tournament documents.
Check-In/Managers/Umpires Meeting:
Check-In will take place at Settler’s Park on Wednesday, July 23th at 5:30 PM. Opening ceremonies will begin at 6:00 PM. We will provide a picnic for players and coaches beginning at 7:00 PM, there will be a nominal charge for all other participants. At 8:00 PM there will be a mandatory Manager’s meeting with tournament officials and the umpire-in-chief. Each team must have a representative (Manager or Coach) present at the meeting. The meeting will primarily be for interpretation and discussion of rules and ground rules with the umpire-in-chief and Tournament Officials. Tournament officials will also use this time to check in your Official Document Book to insure all of the required information is included.
Required documents are as follows:
- Birth documents for each player as specified by Rule 0.04, paragraph 1
- Copy of league accident and liability insurance policy
- Tournament team roster certified and signed by league president
- Letter of League Eligibility Tournament Form signed by State Commissioner
- Consent for Treatment form
- Coaching certificate verification for ALL managers and coaches.
Please note that official Cal Ripken patches must be worn on the upper left sleeve of all players, coaches & managers.
Player Introductions:
Tournament participants will be introduced individually prior to the start of every scheduled tournament game on opening day. After each team has completed their first game, individual introductions will not take place again until the championship game.
Practice Field:
Teams will be able to practice at adjacent fields at Settler’s Park. Other suitable practice locations are located at Fuller Park. A formal, assigned practice schedule will be handed out at the coaches meeting. There is also a batting cage at Fuller Park that will be available for teams wanting to have batting practice before their games. Teams must bring their own gear.

No outside coolers will be allowed in the park. Programs, souvenir t-shirts and concessions including hot dogs, hamburgers, cold drinks, nachos and other miscellaneous items will be available throughout the tournament.

TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS–PLAYER INSTRUCTION
The Regional Officials of the Pacific Northwest Regional Cal Ripken Baseball and the hard working Hosts of this Cal Ripken Regional Tournament have made extensive efforts to make certain your stay in Meridian will be pleasant and rewarding. Therefore, we shall expect all Tournament participants to fully cooperate with the following rules and regulations pertaining to your personal conduct during your stay.
Conduct:
Your conduct must be above reproach on and off the field. Any misbehavior or misconduct could not only cause your disqualification from the Tournament but could disqualify your team as well.

TOURNAMENT TICKET INFORMATION
The ticket booth will open (1) hour prior to the first game each day. Ticket prices are based on a carefully planned budget only to cover the cost of the Tournament. Ticket pricing information is as follows:
Tournament Passes (good for the entire tournament):
Family: (admits 4) $50
Children 5 and under Free
Day Pass (good for 1 entire day only, on day of purchase)
Single Adult $6
Seniors (60 and over) $3
Students (6-18) $3
Children 5 and under Free
Team members will be issued a Tournament Pass that will allow entry into the Tournament. Picture identification may also be required. You must have the pass with you at all times.
General information
Tournament T-shirts will be available to purchase at the ticket booth on a daily basis. Cost of the T-Shirts will be $13.00. T-Shirts sell out over the first few days of the Tournament, so if you would like to purchase one, we suggest you purchase it early.
The winner of this Tournament will advance to the Cal Ripken 10 Year Old World Series Tournament. The World Series will begin on August 8th in Abbeville, Louisiana.
Miscellaneous note to Managers: Please note that there will be no use of EH/DH, and there will be no Courtesy Runners. Also, a coin flip will decide the home and visitor for each game.
There will be a concession stand in operation throughout the tournament. They offer hot dogs, hamburgers, cold drinks, candy, cheese nachos, etc.
Water will be provided to each dugout before each game for the players and coaches to use during the game.
Programs will also be available for a nominal charge at the ticket booth.
Scores from each game will be posted soon after the game is finished at the concession stand
Directions to Settler’s Park:
- Take Exit #44 in I-84 in Meridian. Go North on Meridian Road, which becomes Main Street as you enter town.
- Go North 1.8 miles into Meridian to Cherry Lane. Turn Left (West) on Cherry Lane.
- Go 1 block to Meridian Road, turn right (North).
- Go 1 mile North on Meridian Road to Ustick Road.
- Turn Left (West) on Ustick Road, approximately .2 miles where you will find the entrance to the Leighton Family Baseball Complex on the north side of Ustick Road.
